Attitudes: In the Kitchen Sink

We are often surprised that our clients are taken by surprise by the number of decisions that have to be made when custom building a home. But attitude can make the experience dreaded or delightful. Every once in a while we need to remind our clients that building a custom home rather than purchasing a cookie-cutter home gives them the opportunity to showcase their tastes! Their home will end up a reflection of themselves. So taking the time to carefully consider the options is worthwhile.

Terms like top mount, under mount, apron, double and single basin, corner or angled basin, drainboard and rim are all terms a homeowner can expect to encounter when making decisions about kitchen sinks. If these terms seem a little overwhelming, doing a little pre-investigative homework before your builder begins talking kitchens, can take some of the guesswork out of what the terms mean. There is an excellent article from Kitchen Cabinet Kings that will help in your decision-making.

Don’t get discouraged while making decisions on your kitchen masterpiece. Please remember “When one is able to overcome the romantic and emotional attitude, one discovers truth even in the kitchen sink!”  ~Chogyam Trungpa
